Hey gorgeous girlfriends, how was your weekend? Mine consisted of the usual errands with a trip to the thrift store and a couple of yard sales thrown in. This was my weekend gear. And as harmless as it may look, it's the riskiest trend I've tried this season...head to toe print. I was hoping if the colors coordinated it would be a doable thing and also relying on that block of solid purple to break things up a bit. So I paired these really roomy, light weight pants with a scarf (worn as a blouse) and silver flats. I felt like I was wearing my jammies, so at least I was comfortable. The patterns don't match (a good thing). The scarf has flowers and the pants have sea shells and leaves.
My favorite thing about this outfit is the scarf. The pattern is asymmetrical, so which ever way it's folded, it's a different "blouse". Oh, and did I mention it was only a hundred pennies. Yep, folks that would be $1. Probably the best dollar I've spent all year!
What's the riskiest trend you've tried this season?
Oscar De La Renta scarf: thirfted
Izod pants: thrifted
Classified flats: thrifted
Necklace: thrifted
Thrift factor = 100%
Yay!
Scarves as blouses is one of my favorite wardrobe tricks. I did it here too.
I'm going to link up at Visible Monday, Monday Mingle and Thrifters Anonymous.
Any way you fold it, it's different! Love that!
Wow, very beautiful outfit; it would never occur to me to wear a scarf as a top, which is why I love seeing what other bloggers do with accessories. Comfortable and chic, can't get any better than that!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bold look but works. The blue unifies everything and the mood is lighthearted. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteWow, how did you do this??? Did you get lucky with how well the two pieces go together, or what??? It's so great together. It's sexy too! This is one of the prettiest outfits I've seen in blogland for sure.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'd have to say that I don't try too many trends but a pattern with another pattern is one that I have tried and liked. You look wonderful here!
Brilliant pattern mixing and your creativity with this beautiful scarf is impressive. Looks like summer to me. And your backgrounds are always so interesting. Nice contrast to the color!
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy!! The colors are incredible and you look totally glamorous/sexy/comfortable. I recently managed to work in a modified harem pant. Now that's a challenge! Your pictures are really beautiful, too!
ReplyDeleteTotally love how you styled that scarf!
ReplyDeleteAwesome look--the colors all go together so it works!
ReplyDeleteI wish i could wrap my boobabe in a scarf. Unfortuately it have to be the size of a twin sheet and the gals would be flapping down around my kneecaps!
I think this is a perfect look Sheila! I love that you wore your scarf as a blouse (still meaning to try that . . .) and I love the pattern mixing! You're right--the block of purple does break it up well.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO PRETTY! I love, love the blues and greens and purples. I'm jealous that you thrifted an Oscar de la Renta scarf...I don't seem to have much scarf luck at the thrift stores :(
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry that it's taken me so long to respond to your sweet comment on my blog. I think I thought that I already had? In any case, I'm coming back regularly! I LOVE following fellow thrifters :)
Sheila, love love love it! It was a risk but it works! Good job lady! And yes we do need to hook up before the summer is over. I am pretty open in the first half of July and the second half of August. Let's do it!

Brilliant! I am in awe of how you styled that scarf. So creative. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThis scarf is just perfect with the pants! Just perfect! And I cannot believe how inexpensive it was.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! This works! You look radiant. And for a buck? Incredible. My riskiest trend? Maxis are a trend but I tried to wear evening wear maxis in the daytime. That was scary fun and now I'm addicted.
ReplyDeleteSheila the scarf and pant look made for each other. You look beautiful, like you are on a cruise and just taking in a historical site. As for me, you probably know that I'm not really the risky trends type - just solid work clothes for me.
ReplyDeleteI love how you pulled off this head to toe print, awesome!
ReplyDeletei love it, it's perfection
