Junking With My Boo

There’s nothing like doing something you love with someone you love. That’s exactly what I did this weekend. Actually I’ve had somewhat of an extended weekend which was icing on the cake. Stephen and I both love to go junking  I mean antiquing. We go to places where they turn their noses up at you, because they think you can’t afford anything in their store, and to places that flat out sell junk.  As you can probably guess, my favorite is the place that has pure junk.  This kind of place puts my treasure hunting ability to the test.
Getting to these places is half the fun.  I do feel sorry for Stephen though because these endeavors will usually involve him having to quickly swerve off the road so I can get a few photos,  look at some long forgotten building or some flora and fauna up close. He says he feels like Ricky Ricardo sometimes. Thank you Honey. This post is for you. So, here’s a few snippets from my weekend of junking with my  boo.

These are prices a girl can live with!

I'll never buy a new kitchen gadget again.

We usually pass on the 8 tracks and vinyls, but we do load up on VHS tapes  and books (we don't have cable or satellite).

Only 273 more shopping days until Christmas!

I love old buildings and Virginia has plenty.

I think buying secondhand is buying American, don't you?

We got lucky.

Found a few treasures, some books,  a vintage scale, a handmade tool and VHS tapes. Life is good.

Until next post,
Sincerely,

  1. I love thrifting. When I was a little girl, this was all my mother did and of course back then I would be so bored and could not appreciate it, but now I LOVE IT!I find the most amazing things at second hand shops. I love all of these photos, especially the one of the old house. That reminds me so much of Louisiana where my parents are from.

  2. Hi LV! Thanks. My mom did the same thing. And yes, I've found some amazing stuff over the years. I'm coming over to see you right now.

  3. Thrifting is fun even though I haven't been able to find anything the last few times I have gone, but I like the thrill of the hunt. I haven't been in a about a month or so, so I really need to go. I have to make sure it's a Saturday all day trip because it takes time to go thrifting. Hmmmmmm that might be why I haven't found anything because when I've gone lately I didn't have alot of time to look. (shrugs)

Now my dad loves going to yard sales, antique shops etc....he can find any and everything, so can my mom. My mom has found me some really cute pieces from her and my dads Sunday afternoon trips. I keep saying I'm going to go with them one Sunday to some of these places to see what I can get!!!

    1. Hey Carsedra, some of us girls need to get together and find a central meeting place and we all go thrifting. It's impossible for me to walk into a thrift shop and not come out with something. LOL.

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I actually have tried doing ebay (I just put a couple of things up there this week). I don't have all that much luck with it though ... maybe you could give me some hints? so nice that your "Boo" likes to go thrifting with you.
