We're all familiar with the saying "Tis better to give than to receive". Bull Pucky! Don't believe the hype. Receiving is great fun. I participated in a gift swap among other bloggers this year and the rules were that 4-5 gifts were to be given. One had to be handmade and the others had to be second hand. My swap partner was Tami V. of Thrift Shop Commando. She sent me all sorts of fabulous stuff. I especially adore the purse and the fur trimmed leather gloves. Thanks Tami! If you like vintage stuff and images from the 1950's, 60's and 70's, then make it a point to stop by Tami's.
This next give came completely out of the blue. Jean of Dross Into Gold emailed me to let me know she had a pair of Franco Sarto burgundy booties she thought I might like. I swear on the Girl Scouts honor that just that very day, I had been wishing for a pair burgundy booties. What a gift. Thank you Jean. You're one of the most thoughtful bloggers I know.
Some of the gifts we receive aren't wrapped nor are they purchased; things like the gift of time. Well, did you know you can also be given the gift of s p a c e? Yep it's true. Earlier this year, my husband called me while I was out and about. He told me he had a surprise for me. When I got home, he walked me into
I hope you've all gotten some lovely gifts this year and not necessarily new ones or the ones you get at Christmas or on birthdays because the truly great ones are unexpected and given with love and thoughtfulness. Yes, tis a great thing to receive!
Happy Holidays.
Stunning burgundy shoes.
ReplyDeleteYay like that shoes!

I also love the shoes...wish I could still wear heels like that!
ReplyDeleteYou have wonderful friends! Thanks for sharing the goodies with Visible Monday : >
ReplyDeleteAww...how sweet is you hubby! And, Jean! Great booties!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are so pretty. Jean has wonderful taste....and so do you.
ReplyDeleteHey, welcome back agent 909. You've been undercover for awhile, so it's good to hear you report back that your style's doing just fine.
ReplyDeleteYeeeaaay! She's back! Know how quick it can get overwhelming, 'cause it's about to happen to me.
ReplyDeleteSweet gifts from your bloggy friends. I'm glad to see another woman who will admit to enjoying being on the receiving end sometimes. Me too! (If I don't watch it, after all the holiday goodies I'll be a wide receiver.) (Sorry.) Can you have your completely amazing husband write an article about why giving your wife the whole closet is a good thing to do? I want my huz to read it.
So good to see you back! I loved the story of your husbands gift of space; so sweet and thoughtful, and you are reminded of his generosity every time you enter your closet.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila!! I've also been MIA, so I'm happy you're back on the grid too!! I love the closet story!!! What a sweetie. You know I can't wait to see you style those boots :-) I love the assortment of gifts Tammi sent you, too. It definitely looks like Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWow, my gift package looks fanastico in your image. Thanks for the shout-out. I've got to get going and post all of your pretties you sent me!

Oh wow! Look at all these wonderful pressies! And your husband's present of space blew me away - what a man!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas!
Cool booties! A very fashionable color and I love the zippers.
ReplyDeleteNo, *I* feel so selfish. I've recently expanded into about half my hubby's closet space. Even though he doesn't hang up clothes, he's still not jumping for joy...lol. What a thoughtful gift from your hubby!
ReplyDeleteBurgundy boots! Gloves with fur! The rest of the closet! I'd say someone is having a very stylin' holiday :)
Hi Sheila! I've missed seeing you around, but I certainly understand how real-life can get demanding and it has priority over blogging. I hope your life is going well and you're happy. I came by to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
