Plaid, Vintage Pleats And a Dose of Leopard

Happy Sunday/Monday Gals. I sure hope you got an extended weekend. I did, and I'm luxuriating in the thought of painting my toenails and rearranging my sock drawer tomorrow. I know, sounds boring, but to me it's heaven!
On to the outfit. I stopped by a charity yard sale this past Saturday and picked up a bag full of clothes for $1. Do I need to tell you I was just tickled pink over that? There was table full of vintage clothes, hence this lovely pleated skirt with ruffled bottom. I really have no idea what to wear with it (yet), so I paired it with this plaid shirt since it has a similar color blue in it (and it was the first thing I could put my hands on). It's kind of June Cleaver meets Grizzly Adams. I'm biting my nails over the cost of having it dry cleaned. They charge $3.98 plus and additional 10 cents per pleat. I could end up paying more to have it cleaned than the darn thing probably cost new! At this rate, it may be in the line up for the Shop N' Swap party. I know these shoes will.
Oh...you didn't know about the Shop N' Swap party? Well just click here. Everybody's invited so spread the word.

Major update!!!!
Frannie Pantz is getting married and e-invited
her blog friends to attend. I think I'll wear this skirt
with my silvery Ralph Lauren sweater and strappy
BCBG Girls sandals (all thrifted).
Congratulations Frannie Pantz. Wishing you many
happy years of marital bliss.

  1. Girl, that skirt is so lovely, it's worth $4 to clean, although you could also try Dryel at home. I've been looking for a pleated chiffon skirt for AGES with no luck, and you get one for less than a dollar!

  2. Well, I'm gonna sport it a couple of times before sending it to the dry cleaners. I think I'll wear it to Frannie's wedding (with a different top of course).

  3. June Cleaver meets Grizzly Adams is the perfect bride for Hoss Cartright! Oh Boy!

I do love the soft feminine skirt. I doubt you'd have to have it cleaned very often so enjoy! You could do so many things with it. A simple black top with a scarf, something sparkly to make it festive, a rock n roll graphic tee, a denim jacket and combat boots for a Bjork look! The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for the reminder again about the Swap n Shop. I have some jewelry in mind but nothing in the clothing category yet. I'll try and remember to post something about it on my next post and direct them to your information.

Have a wonderful day off from work!

  14. I love pleats! This is cute! I love the shade of blue and that is has frills edging the pleats.
You know I read a trick somewhere about washing pleats which I tried on a vintage dress with a pleated skirt - it was just regular polyester pleated as far as I could tell. But I bunch the skirt up and draw it through a few rubber bands. Then I washed it on delicate/hand wash - didn't spin it, just let it drip dry. And it came out perfect.

  15. The skirt is lovely and both like the dress down look with the button down and the more fancier version. Although I would almost kill for it, you can't put it in the swap pile, it looks so good on you!

  18. Wow- .10 per pleat?! That's IS an investment, lol. It sure is pretty though...I love the color and I also like how you styled it. I don't know if I would have thought to pair the vintage pleats with plaid but it looks great.

  21. Ah, the new skirt dresses up nicely for a wedding party! I like the first pairing though and I had no idea that these skirts were so expensive to dry clean. I wonder if a good steaming might make it feel "clean" to you. Love the little ruffle at the bottom of the pleats.
